Bonaparte DVI System License
Bonaparte can be evaluated free of charge for non-commercial use by using the online demonstration version.
For academic institutions it is possible to obtain a local installation—without support—free of charge for non-commercial
research purposes.
Commercial use of Bonaparte within the Netherlands is licensed exclusively to
our partner the Netherlands Forensic Institute in The Hague.
Commercial licenses are available only to institutes and organisations that do not reside in The Netherlands.
Governments, NGO′s or other entities for which DNA identification is a core business usually require a commercial license to use Bonaparte.
Please contact us if you are uncertain if your organization needs a commercial license or not.
The Bonaparte license is in principle a non-exclusive, non-transferable license, that allows your organization to use the system
within your territory (process cases for your territory) without any further restrictions. There is no limit to the number of users. Other licensing terms are
negotiable.
The product
Bonaparte is a software system that runs on a dedicated server, and is accessed via a desktop pc.
Several options are available for obtaining Bonaparte:
- Software + license only
- Turn-key systems: Hardware + software + license
- Hosted systems: license only (subscription service for small institutes)
The first two (software + turn-key) are not restricted in any way; these systems can be accessed by
an unlimited number of concurrent users, and you can store an unlimited number of profiles. The
difference is that in case of a turn-key system, we also deliver the hardware (we ship servers
with Bonaparte pre-installed).
Bonaparte is also available as hosted service. This option is intended for small institutes only.
In this case you upload the profiles to one of our online servers and perform the matching there. In
this case your institute does not have to invest in dedicated servers. The hosted service subscription is a single
user license, and you can store at most 1,000 profiles.
Included in all packages is standard support during office hours (09:00-17:00, UTC+01:00 Central European Time),
with 48 hours response time.
Upgrades to 24/7 support are also available.

Try our demo
A free demonstration version of the Bonaparte system is available, but since the system is client-server based you cannot simply download it.
Instead we have Bonaparte running on one of our servers. All you have to do is register (if you have not already done so) and use
the credentials we provide you to log on.
Since the Bonaparte instance on the demo server is shared we can only provide users with limited rights accounts.
Full access accounts are available on the dedicated server only (see below).
Other evaluation options
A powerful dedicated server running Bonaparte is available on request to prospective clients free
of charge. You get administrative rights so you can use Bonaparte with all privileges.
Alternatively we can visit your institute and provide you with a local system to do evaluation in house (possibly not free of charge).
